J. M. ZimanJohn Michael Ziman (lahir 16 Mei 1925 – meninggal 2 Januari 2005 pada umur 79 tahun)[1] adalah seorang ahli fisika dan seorang humanis yang bekerja di bidang fisika benda terkondensasi.[2][3][4]. Selain itu ia juga dikenal sebagai guru dan penulis. John Ziman lahir di Cambridge, Inggris, tetapi sewaktu ia kecil pindah ke Selandia Baru. Dalam mengawali pendidikannya ia masuk ke Hamilton dan Universitas Wellington. Ia memperoleh gelar Ph.D dari Balliol College, Oxford dan melakukan penelitian awal pada teori elektron dalam logam cair pada Universitas Cambridge. Pada tahun 1964 ia diangkat sebagai profesor oleh Universitas Bristol, di mana ia menulis Elements Of Advanced Quantum Theory (1969) yang menjelaskan dasar-dasar teori medan kuantum dengan mendasar pada kemiringan yang terkondensasi. Dia menikah dua kali, Rosemary Dixon pada tahun 1951 namun ia bercerai dan pernikahannya yang kedua dengan Joan Salomo ia dikarunai tiga dari empat anaknya.[5] Buku yang ditulis oleh Ziman - Ziman, John (1960).
