Thomas Paine (29 Januari 1737 – 8 Juni 1809) adalah pamfleter, revolusioner, radikal, penemu dan intelektual Britania Raya. Ia tinggal dan bekerja di Britania hingga usia 37 tahun ketika ia bermigarasi ke koloni Amerika Britania. Kontribusinya adalah pamflet Common Sense (1776), mendukung kemerdekaan koloni-koloni Amerika dari Kerajaan Britania Raya, dan The American Crisis (1776–1783), pamflet pro revolusi. Ia juga merancang jembatan pertama yang panjang dan melintasi sungai tanpa tiang penyangga di tengahnya
