Faktor pertumbuhan hepatosit (bahasa Inggris: hepatocyte growth factor, scatter factor, hepapoietin A, SF, HGFB, HPTA, F-TCF, DFNB39, HGF) adalah sitokina hasil sekresi sel mesenkimal yang memiliki multi-fungsi antara lain berperan dalam perkembangan sel, motilitas, morfogenesis pada lintasan tirosina kinase, sehingga mempunyai peran penting dalam angiogenesis, tumorogenesis dan perbaikan jaringan tubuh.[1]
HGF disekresi sebagai polipeptida yang tidak aktif dan kemudian teriris oleh serina protease menjadi rantai alfa dengan massa 69 kDa dan rantai beta dengan massa 34 kDa.
Rendahnya rasio HGF di dalam plasma darah dianggap merupakan pemicu terjadinya hepatitis kronis, karena pengaruh HGF yang bersifat anti-apoptotik, anti-radang terhadap hepatosit.[2][3] Rasio HGF yang rendah, dapat ditingkatkan oleh induksi asam maleat,[4] atau dengan asupan buah Momordica charantia L. secara teratur.[5] Sekresi HGF juga dapat diinduksi oleh aktivasi protein kinase A dan protein kinase C, EGF, TNF-α,[6] dan interferon-gamma. Efek yang diberikan oleh interferon-gamma, tidak dapat disubstitusi oleh interferon-alfa maupun interferon-beta.[7]
