Mission

eWEEK has a stated mission to provide technology decision-makers with a mix of breaking news, analysis, trends, and reviews to help them make educated IT buying decisions. eWEEK is a PageRank: 6 site and its articles are found in Google News.

Audience

According to a 2010 survey released by eWEEK, the eWEEK audience is actively involved in buying enterprise technology. It is primarily composed of IT professionals and managers, along with some corporate and line-of-business decision-makers involved in the IT purchasing process.

Key focus areas

Given the website structure and editorial content that eWEEK creates, the site focuses on the following topics: Cloud computing, mobile technology, data center and infrastructure, security and enterprise applications, as well as IT careers and leadership information.

History

Originally called PC Week (since 1983), the publication was one of the first to provide perspectives on the tech industry specifically for IT administrators and IT professionals working for large companies that were beginning to build out their infrastructures. PC Week evolved into eWEEK to reflect the transition from print to a digital industry. Now a digital-only publication, eWEEK offers its readers content in a variety of formats: Website, editions for tablets and smartphones and e-mail newsletters.

eWEEK has chronicled how enterprise technology has changed from a reliance on mainframes to the era of distributed computing involving x86 servers, PCs and sophisticated software to a modern world of enterprise applications, mobile devices and cloud computing.

eWEEK is part of Ziff Davis Enterprise (acquired by QuinStreet), which includes several other flagship technology sites, including Baseline and CIO Insight. eWEEK’s Channel Insider provides coverage of the technology channel for VARs, ISVs and company partners.
