Internet tablet

Internet tablet is a tablet computer that focuses on Internet use and media consumption. Therefore, internet tablets are mobile Internet appliances. Internet tablets fall in the range between a personal digital assistant (PDA) and an Ultra-Mobile PC, and slightly below Intel's Mobile Internet device.[1]

Operating systems

Internet tablets run a range of operating systems as of 2011. Some of the earliest prototypes, at the start of the 2000s, were made by Be, Inc. and their BeIA operating system, and QNX.

Nokia Internet tablet

Nokia Internet tablets run the Debian Linux-based Maemo, which draws much of its GUI, frameworks, and libraries from the GNOME project. It uses the embedded-targeted Matchbox as its window manager and Hildon, a lightweight GTK-based toolkit designed for hand-held devices, as its GUI and application framework.
