Matt Zimmerman is a technologist and free software and open source developer. Zimmerman worked for Canonical Ltd. as the technical leader of the Ubuntu project, chairman of the Ubuntu technical board and CTO of the project. At Canonical, Zimmerman coordinated technological decisions related to the development and release of Ubuntu. He announced that he will be leaving Canonical in June on 6 May 2011[1] to join Singly[2] to work on the Locker Project,[3] which he wrote about on his personal blog on 27 May 2011.[4]
Zimmerman is a well known developer in the Debian project, having occupied a role on the group's security team and maintained the Advanced Packaging Tool (APT).
Zimmerman is an alumnus of the Computer Science House at RIT.
